What is the best P&C insurance agency management system for?

Best is subjective, similar in nature to the question you may get frequently: What is the best insurance company? Assess your needs which will help you determine what features and capabilities you may need. Those will narrow down the number of vendors and help you find one that will support your agency. Does your agency have multiple locations? Do you want to have separate books and reporting by location? Do you write plain vanilla risks, or do you handle heavy, non-ISO policies? Which insurance companies do you do business with? Do they offer policy download? If so, does the management system support that? Does the system (and your carriers) support direct bill commission download? Do you want to offer your customers self service via your website? Integrated accounting or using a third party tool like Quick Books? Do you want to have a comparative personal lines rating package? How important is it that it integrates to your AMS? Does the rating company offer rates for your key carriers> Do you want to do sophisticated cross sell campaigns against your book? If so, how does the system support that? Im just scratching the surface here, but these questions should get you started.
