What if Japan had somehow managed to conquer Siberia during the?
They wouldnt have kept it for long. Siberia is an extremely vast piece of land, and its impossible to even try to occupy the entirety of it. It also is very rich in both minerals and oil, but to bring out the mineral you need to bring mining equipment, and the oil fields were not discovered until the late 50s-early 60s. You also need infrastructure to bring the equipment in and to take the resources out, and infrastructure in Siberia in those times was minimal or non existent, so the Japanese would need to build everything themselves. And even though the Japanese might have defeated the Russian forces at sea, the Russian army was still quite strong, and partisan activity would have made life in Siberia impossible to the Japanese, and to fight back against them the Japanese army would need to be sent to Siberia, and the economic burden of sending and supplying an army so far away from Japan might prove too great for the Japanese economy. This doesnt look like a good place to occupy and fight partisans. In conclusion, going to Siberia would have a been a very, very bad thing for the Japanese, and its good that they didnt even try it.
