How can being an active listener make you a better manager?
Because a good manager listens to understand ,and not just hear to reply. Listening means complete focus ,and attention ,not just on the words spoken , but the tone and tenor with which it is delivered ,the behaviour , and understanding the underlying,intent, emotions and feelings ,of the person, and then responding ,appropriately ,and fairly. A good listener seeks clarification and elaboration to avoid any misinterpretation,misunderstanding and misjudgement and is not influenced by biases or make assumptions . Being an active listener ,requires ,emotional intelligence and prudence ,and is one of the finest qualities of a manager.
