As a software development manager, what would be your reaction if a?

Its true, this claim would cause my BS detector to report an event or two. I would ask the developer to clarify whether they meant to say they actually wrote every line of code by themselves, (which is pure BS) or if they worked within a team that together generated that much code, which sounds maybe possible. In my experience, claiming for yourself work done by a whole team is a recurring pattern in interviews. Ive seen it before, and I know how to read the subtext. I would ask about the science, because if I knew even a little about it, they probably couldnt BS this question. Id ask if they were named as an author in the paper, which is verifiable. If not, Id ask who gave them the math to implement, which is something you can check with a reference. I would digress into the issues implementing that code, because I know some issues they should have encountered. I would ask how such a large project was managed, because I know what issues should arise managing a project of that scope. I could ask all these questions without giving away the fact that I was looking for BS. At the end, either the needle on my BS detector would be bent, or I would be in the presence of greatness.
