I am going to appear in TCS campus?
I have taken many interviews and the thing to note here is there is a basic difference between the subjects that you are strong in and the subjects that interests you. Generally both are same as one concentrates more on the subjects that one is interested in. But just in case, I would suggest that you put forth the subjects that you are really strong in rather than the subject which interests you. Also here are some points that I would check in a prospect employee:1. Don't be Jack of All, Master of None: Generally the interviewer would concentrate on one of the subjects that you mark as favorite and then test your knowledge in the same. Instead of giving him a buffet of subjects, stick to the one that you can answer the complex questions that he can post. I would prefer someone with expert proficiency in one subject over someone with basic proficiency in multiple subjects2. Eagerness to Learn: Companies these days are looking for candidates who are eager to learn as they can work in different skill-set, as per the requirements and the market requirement are constantly changing. So, during the interview, if you are not able to answer, DO NOT try to cover it up. The interviewer is generally far too experienced to see through your cover up. Instead admit that you don't know the ans and state that if given a chance, you would definitely learn the same and would love to implement it. Nobody knows everything, especially when you are still in college, so there is no harm in admitting that you don't know the topic but you should show eagerness to learn3. Confidence: In today's world, if you don't have the confidence then chances of you succeeding goes down drastically. Try to maintain self-composure and be confident in what you are saying as, after all, they are there to recruit you so there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. At the same time, do not be over confident and try to argue on something. There is a big difference in being proactive or keeping your point on the table and arguing or fighting to prove the interviewer wrong to defend your point. Knowing the balance is the key to a successful interview4. Kindness goes a long way: Be polite. Chances are, if you are polite, the interviewer would want to talk to you and is more likely to ignore your mistake or even blunders if you are lucky enough. A polite greeting while entering the room and a kind thank you after your interview is done could go a long way as it would be a pleasant change for the interviewer from the routine set of candidates he is meeting5. Know the Company: Google the company and have some basic info about the company, specially the reason for it being in news lately, some Wiki facts about the company, the Mission and Vision of the company etc. This will make the interview feel that you really want to be a part of the company and you went an extra mile for that. Even the Mission and Vision of your college and some basic facts about your college to make them understand that you care about things that you are already a part off and that you would keep the same attitude once you join them6. No extra marks for finishing first: Don't be in a hurry to explain the question. Listen to the question first, even if you think that you know the question. You wont get extra credits if you finish your answer in haste, in fact it might work against you. Instead, explain your answer in detail and let them decide the pace of the interview. At the same time do not stray from the topic as the more number of things you say, the more ammunition he has to cross question you. So be precise but don't cut corners in expatiation. Be clear on what you want to say and make sure they understand where you are going7. Most Important of All - Knowledge: All the above mentioned would help you to stand out from the general crowd which is important to make your mark but it is not a substitute for Knowledge. So prepare well for the interview, go through the subjects that you are weak in, more than once. Be thorough in the subjects that you would bank on to decide the course of the interviewHopefully few of the above point would help you perform better.Best of Luck!!!
