Current residents of Hong Kong - Have the recent protests and riots?
Thanks for the A2A, David. I wrote this answer on Sep 26 (Thurs). I had a meeting with some trustworthy acquaintances yesterday. One of them was extremely late and the first question we popped up was, Were you blocked by the cockroaches? It has become an annoying norm that the traffic can be influenced by the terrorists any time of the day. My family will have a gathering with a long time friend at home this weekend. We planned to start and leave earlier in order to avoid any chaos. However, there has been rumors on social media that the terrorists are planning to go beyond extreme on this coming weekend, which is close to Oct 1 - the National Day of China. Instead of celebrating, they want people to mourn on this day. As a result, we canceled our gathering. Since July, I haven't gone to the street on any weekends. The only time I went out was a banquet of relative, and the restaurant located deep in the rural area where the terrorists shouldn't be interested to come. I start carrying whistle when I go out. There are two purposes for doing so. One is to draw attention from the crowd if you see someone is unfortunately surrounded by the terrorists. We highly suggest calling the police first and then announcing it loudly to hope that the terrorists would be scared off. Also, it is a good way to identify the cockroaches from ordinary citizens. As you may see on the news, those terrorists are a bunch of masked cowards. Therefore, they won't be able to unmask and blow whistles like us. I have been giving out whistles to close friends and family and wish that they may stay safe. The world is still going on. I don't know if such disruption is manageable or not. Those who support the terrorists claim that they are fighting our future. And me? I just can't tolerate the fact that we are witnessing the crumbling of our society and do anything.
